3M Ceramic Only. No Dyed. No Carbon. No Upsell.

Purple and bubbling is what dyed film does. We don't carry it.

We install 3 vehicles a day. No more.

The short version

The Three Films. We Stock One.

Every tint shop in South Florida sells some mix of these three. Here is the whole comparison in three lines.

Want the long version, with what each film is made of and how they hold up in Florida sun? Read ceramic vs carbon vs dyed tint. This page is about something else: why we only carry one of them.

What IR Ceramic Actually Does

The numbers are on every tint website. Here is what they mean when you are the one in the driver's seat.

99% of UV blocked

Your dash stops cracking. Your seats stop fading. Your left arm stops cooking on I-95.

UV is what ages a dashboard, bleaches leather and burns the one arm that faces the window every commute. Stop it at the glass and all three stop.

Up to 70% of heat rejected

The AC catches up in a couple of blocks instead of the whole drive.

Infrared is the part of sunlight you feel as heat. Ceramic targets it directly, so the cabin stops reheating as fast as the AC can cool it. The steering wheel is something you can hold again.

Non-metallic

Phone, GPS, SunPass and radio all work exactly like they did yesterday.

Metallic film reflects heat with a layer of metal, and that layer gets between your electronics and the signal. Ceramic has no metal in it, so there is nothing to get in the way.

So what is 3M IR Series, exactly?

3M is the manufacturer. IR Series is their infrared-rejecting ceramic line for automotive glass. Instead of dye or metal, the film is built around ceramic particles that are tuned to stop infrared while letting visible light through. That one design choice is where all three benefits above come from: no dye means nothing to fade, no metal means nothing to block a signal, and the ceramic itself is what turns the heat away.

It is the film we install on every car, and the reason we do not stock anything else. Once you have a film that does not fade, does not interfere and blocks the heat at any shade, the cheaper options stop being options. They are just things that fail slower or faster.

Why one film

No Upsell Ladder.

Walk into most tint shops and you get a menu. The bottom rung exists to make the middle one look reasonable. The middle one exists so you get talked up to the top. That conversation is the business model.

The usual menu
  1. DyedThe number that gets you in the door.
  2. CarbonWhere you get talked to.
  3. CeramicWhere you end up, an hour later, feeling worked.
Our menu
  • 3M IR Series ceramicThat is the whole list. There is no cheaper film on the van to get talked out of, because we do not carry one.

With one film, the quote is about your car and your windows, not about which rung you land on. The only two decisions left are how dark you want it and how long you want it covered. Premium carries a 3 year warranty. Premium Plus carries it for as long as you own the car. Same film either way. The number you are quoted is the number.

Why People Replace Tint.

Nobody replaces tint that is working. Here is what it looks like when it is not.

  • Purple windows. The dye is breaking down. Nothing cleans it and nothing brings it back.
  • Bubbles across the rear glass. The adhesive has let go. Every hot week it spreads a little more.
  • Peeling at the edges. Started at one corner of the driver's window, now you can see it from across the lot.
  • Hazy film you can see through, but not clearly. The film is delaminating, which is the layers coming apart. It is worst at night against oncoming headlights.

All four are dyed film doing what dyed film does, and South Florida sun makes it do it faster than anywhere else in the country. Cheap tint is not cheap. You pay for it, you pay to have it scraped off, then you pay for the film you should have bought the first time. We skip the first two steps.

We Are Not The Cheapest. That Is The Point.

Most shops carry three tiers so they can quote you a low number. The low number is dyed film. We do not stock it, so we do not have that number to give you.

If the cheapest install in South Florida is what you are after, we are not your shop. What we do instead is one quote, for the film that does not come back off. You pay more once instead of paying twice, and the second time always costs more, because it includes scraping the first one off.

  • Bubbling
  • Peeling
  • Discoloration
Premium
3 Year

Three years of coverage against bubbling, peeling and color change.

Premium Plus
Lifetime

Coverage that lasts as long as you own the car.

If the film we installed bubbles, peels or discolors inside the coverage window, that is on us to fix, not on you. And we come back to your driveway to do it.

3M IR Series ceramic. Every car, every window we tint. We do not stock dyed film or carbon film, so there is no other option on the van.
3M is the manufacturer. IR Series is their infrared-rejecting ceramic automotive film. Instead of dye or metal, the film uses ceramic particles that are tuned to stop infrared, which is the part of sunlight you feel as heat, while letting visible light through. That is why it can block heat without going dark and without interfering with anything electronic in the car.
No. The heat rejection comes from the ceramic, not the shade. A light ceramic film on your front windows stays inside the Florida legal limit and still blocks the heat. Darkness is a separate choice you make for looks and privacy.
No. Purple is dye breaking down, and there is no dye in ceramic film to break down. Bubbling, peeling and discoloration are all covered by the warranty, three years on Premium and for as long as you own the car on Premium Plus.
No. 3M IR Series is non-metallic. Metallic films can block signals because they reflect with a layer of metal. Ceramic has none, so your phone, navigation, toll transponder, radio and keyless entry all work exactly the way they did before.
Up to 70% of the heat coming through the glass. In practice, that is the AC catching up in a couple of blocks instead of the whole drive, and a steering wheel you can hold after the car sat in a lot.
There is no dye to fade, so it does not degrade the way dyed film does in South Florida sun. The Premium Plus warranty covers it for as long as you own the car, which tells you how long we expect it to hold up.
Carbon holds its color better than dyed film but gives up heat rejection at the top end, and in South Florida you feel that difference. If you want the full comparison, our guide to ceramic vs carbon vs dyed tint goes through all three.
No, and not as a sales tactic. We do not carry one. There is one film on the van, so the only choices left are how dark you want it and how long you want it covered.
No. Old film comes off first so the new film bonds to clean glass. If your car has old tint on it, tell us when you book so we plan enough time for removal.
